1988 Chevy Corsica 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1988 chevy corsica with only 51,000. Yesterday the belt broke and the idler pully is very hard to move. I assume the bearings went out and the pully needs replaced. My problem is that it's such tight quarters, I can barely get a wrench along side the engine. There got to be a trick, like going through the wheel well or something? Is there any ideas on how to change the idler pully without going to an expense shop. Thanks

Hi:
If you can remove the inner fender, it may help. Just make sure it isn't a waste of time. In the past, I would move as much out of the was as I could (coolant tank, w/s washer tank.) And do it from the top and bottom. Almost had my hand stuck a few times, but always got the job done.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Joe
