2004 Chevy Colorado Two Wheel Drive Automatic 50,000 miles

when I turn my key to start my truck the truck starts fine but when I turn it off the truck tries to turn over to get it to stop I have to turn it to accessary or undo the battery what could be the problem?

I have heard of a defective BCM causing this, but have not experienced this in our shop. Yet. The case that I heard was a educted guess at it becasue of ther failed attempts at solving it. I think I would ceck and make sure the most current software has been updated into the computer first and if it hasn't see if there is a fix that may be solved by upgrading it.
