1999 Chevy Cheyenne Air flow is only coming from defroster

Air Conditioning problem
1999 Chevy Cheyenne V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

The air conditioner seems to be only blowing through the defroster vents and the compressor is not kicking on. I don't know if it's the controls or something else.

First thing I would do, move the comtrols and listern for a hiss from the vacuum lines, if no hiss is heard, check the line on the vacuum tank under the hood, its probably broken. The A/C is a different problem altogether, you'll have to take it to a shop and have that checked.
