1972 Chevy Chevelle V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual

Hi, my 72 Chevelle with a 454 has a popping sound, ( small backfire) from the exhust, seems on passanger side only. When its sitting and idleing and I rev it up it seems ok but when Im driving it im getting this popping?
Any ideas?

Backfire is normally a sign of being too lean

Hi, its not like a backfire, its more like a popping sound. Have adjusted the carb, cannt get rid of the popping sound

First let me say Nice car, Have you tryed adjusting the valves, it sounds like an exhaust valve isn't closing all the way. Put a vacuum gage on it, lets see if vac is steady, if the needle is bouncing you either have a valve too tight or a broken spring. Good Luck, Lou p/s I have a 427 Impala and I love BBCs
