Engine Performance problem
1972 Chevy Chevelle V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual
Have oil that drips from the oil fill cap on a 1972, 454. Drops on the header, smokes and stinks and making a mess. Any ideas how to stop it?
Thanks for any help

Check the condition of the cap if okay-check and test the positive crankcase ventilation system-start at the PCV valve

Oil cap is in good condition, will replace the PCV. On a 454 should there be 2 PCVs (one on each side) or one will work fine?
Thanks for the reply

Sounds like you need to rebuild the engine due to excessive blowby

If you have a gauge small enough take teh oil filler cap off and see what the pressure is. If it's above 3psi then something is pressurizing the engine like no breather or blowby. There should be a hose leading to the air cleaner with a small filter to let the engine breathe as well as pcv.
