1988 Chevy Celebrity 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Had Alt. Checked and suppose to be good, so had battery checked. Put back together and sometimes it charges (weakly) and then quits and battery is dead

Take the alt. Off the car and have it bench tested again, try two different autoparts stores, Advance and Autozone for example. Have them spin it a minute or so before flipping the test switch and note exact volts it is putting out. If below 13.3, I would replace it.

Alt. Should charge at least 13.3 or more when hot.
