Engine Performance problem
1985 Chevy Celebrity 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a 1985 chevy celebrity 2.8L 6cyl and when I drive it, it makes a bad popping sound and lays over. It doesn't want to accelerate. So I let off the gas and get on it easy and it will accelerate slowly it seems like its a miss but I don't know cause it only does it when im driving it down the road. It also pops bad when I go up a hill or an incline. But it don't pop al the time. I can get in it in the morning and it will drive normal for a few miles and when every thing is up to temp and warm it starts it again. So if anyone can help me with my problem it would be appreciated very much thanx.

Welcome to the forum, how long since a tune-up? Check for codes. Use a gage and check fuel pressure. Do you have a carb or fuel injected? Sometimes a popping sound can be a valve issue.

Thankx for the reply I seen on the forum a 89 celebrity 2.8L on the 3rd page seems to be doing the same as mine so im going to replace the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor to see if that fixes it. By the way I don't think its ever had a tune up and it has a throttle body
