Brake Warning Light - will I make it to the repair shop safe

My brake warning light came on tonight while I was driving home from work. My brakes seem fine, actually my rear brake pads were just replaced less than 1,000 miles ago. I drove about 12 miles home. I'd like to take my car to the repair shop near work, will I be okay driving another 12 miles there in the morning with this light on. I was just rear ended almost 7 weeks ago and just got my car back last week so I'm quite nervous about accidents at the moment, the brake warning light is scaring me! Please help ASAP! First thing I would do is see how much brake fluid you have in youre brake master cyl, Could only need to some 3 dot brake fluid top up, It could be low. If that desnt do the trick, I would check for brake fluid leaks, Near the rear brake drum area.
