My check engine light came on and I had diagnostic check at the local Advance Auto. The diagnosis code was P0496-Evap Emission High Purge Flow fault. I have trouble starting the vehicle after I fill up the tank of gas. Please help.

Best to take to dealer or trusted mechanic and get system fixed. There are solenoids that open/close to move tank fumes back to intake, one or more of the solenoids is not working causing code.

You probably have one of the following:

- loose/defective gas cap: (retighten it, clear the code and drive the car around; hopefully that's all it needs).
- leak in EVAP system: you may have a loose hose, something wrong with the canister or the vent valve is stuck open (this valve is behind the gas tank; try to tap on it gently; it may release it).

Thanks for that info...
the purge soleniod is located next to the power steering pump on the right side of the engine on the top.

The evap vent soleniod in located in the evap canister which is located in back of the fuel tank in the rear of the vehicle just above the rear axle.

Hope this helps, any more questions, just ask.

evaporative emission (EVAP) system has a large leak.
Check the gas cap or vent valve. these are the most common problems

According to the manual it is on the side of the engine, above the oil filter under the exhaust manifold, , be sure to check the hose going to it for damage as well. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
