2004 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i can't select the front windshield defroster in my air conditioners vent selector switch. If I try to make it go to the defroster the switch snaps back as if it were spring loaded. Would this be a problem with the switch or maybe an obstruction in the vents?

Hi:
There could be an obstruction, or a problem with a cable. What I suggest, is remove the switch and determine if the cable adjuster (connect to the switch which snaps back). The cable may be bent or damaged. Let me know what you find.
