When my gf shuts off her car, the cooling fan remains on. It stays on until the battery runs dead. I pulled the relay for the mean time and she pays attention to the engine temp gauge. It heats up to it's normal operating temp and stays about there while driving, then cools down as normal after she gets to her destination. I've checked the Temp sensor, and it looked fine, but I tried replacing it, and that still didn't fix the problem.

What else could cause this? I don't know what makes the fan unable to turn off, or what's malfunctioning telling the fan to be on. Thanks for your help!

Hello, did you try swapping out the relay? Are there any codes? Some of the national brand autostores will check codes for free. The computer controls the coil side of relay by a ground circuit. Maybe the circuit is shorted to ground before the computer?

Didn't swap out the relay, but it looks fine. Not even any discoloration on any of the metal. Haven't checked codes yet. Now for the past two days, the fan has been shutting off like normal, with only one instance of it not. I will check over the circuits around and get the codes checked, however, autozone said they don't have adaptable computers for the cavalier. Thanks for your input
