2002 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My wife's car battery died four nights ago. I jumped it in the mourning and it held a charge until today she said she was on her way to work and all the lights on the dash came on and when she turned the car of at work it world not start. My question is it the battery or should I have the alternator looked at?

If it died while being used, then the charging system is the most likely failure but any charging system testing should always start with testing the battery anyway.

Be sure the alternator is tested in the vehicle so the rest of the circuit is tested also.
