How do I remove to door latch mechanism from the door? I have the door panel off, but I am having trouble figuring out how to detach to latch from inside the door.

If you are refering to the latch that attaches to the body to hold the door shut, the screws are on the outside of the door. You access them from the outside of the door. If it is the handle, there are two screws that hold it on from the inside of the door.
