My car wont heat up, unless I drive around for a while. I have a short drive to work and temp gage barely gets to 100 deg. I had the thermo replaced and the rad, also new coolant added to. Now in warmer weather it would heat up fine, now since weather is getting colder it will barely heat, but when it does and I start driving temp drops back to 100 deg. What could be the problem.

The distance to work is about 7 miles. It takes about 15 minutes to get there. But before I had all the work done it would heat to its operating temp within that distance. I dont know if maybe I should dilute the coolant more so maybe it would heat up better but I dont know if that would really do anything. Thanks for ur reply.

Do you know if your cooling fan is running during the time of your drive. Are you using your defrost

No my fan does not run during drive to work. I alway listen to when the fan would kick on and it would start runnig as soon as it got above 195deg, then it would cool back down just under 195. It doesnt even get that hot now. As far as my defrost I dont use it because it will just cold to luke warm air.

Yes my father inlaw and I did the work. I trust that he knew what he was doing he has work on cars for a long time and knows the ins and outs of cars. We did bleed the system. U know I had a 92 caviler that did the same thing but I didnt have it long enough to look at the problem. Hey maybe it just be cause it is a chevy.
