The battery light was on this morning so and then when I got to work the car would not start again. Then my husband replaced the battery and the car started right up, but when the car was driven afterwards the battery light is still coming on, my question is does it need time for the battery to reset the light or should it have already gone off? Thank you, Shannon Del Collo

Welcome to the forum, have the charging system checked. Some of the national brand auostores may check it for free.

If you are still here, does this usually mean the Alternator?

I wouldn't replace anything without having the charging system checked. If the charging system isn't working correctly, I think it is either the alternator or wiring circuit. I can't guarantee replacing the alternator will fix it. The wiring circuit is a possibility.
