Hello,

The replacement of the water pump in your Cavalier is not terribly difficult. It can be done in couple of hours or less depending on your comfort level.
Remember to only work on the cooling system of a vehicle when the engine is cold.

To change the water pump first you will have to drain the coolant. There is a drain plug at the bottom of the radiator.
Then you will have to remove the serpentine belt. After that the water pump pully and then the water pump.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
