Computer problem
2000 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive 99000 miles

About four months ago the check engine light came on. I had it reset, and was told the C02 sensor was slow. It stayed off until this past weekend. I thought I would need to get it reset or the C02 sensor would need to be replaced. Today, the check engine light went off on it's own. Is there a reason why this went off? I did read somewhere about three complete warm up cycles can turn the light off. Should I be concerned?

The light came on because the computer picked up on a problem. After so many cycles, the system goes through and checks everything again. If it is working properly at that point, the light may go off.

Regardless, I would recommend taking the car to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Most will do it for free. Even though the light is now off, the computer should still show where the problem was coming from.

Check it out and let me know what you find.
