My 99 cavalier w/ 2.2, 3 spd. Auto shudders while driving/ maintaining highway speeds or during slight acceleration up low grades. No misfire codes. Plugs/ wires are newer as well as tranny filter/fluid. The car has had a "transaxle component slipping code" for some time. Could this be the tranny finally going, the car seems to shift up/ down fine. Or could it be as simple as a clogged fuel filter?

I would check the fuel filter and also double check your plug wires just to be sure they are not arching. Let me know what you find

I checked that all plugs were tight and plug wires last week. All seemed fine. I have had the car for about 35,000 miles and don't know the history of fuel filter. You don't think tranny or coil?

Could be either. Check and see if the coil is arching anywhere on the block
