It seems like when I use my heat and am sitting at a stop light my car smells like gas. If I turn off heat smell goes away and also when I am moving I do not smell gas either?
Any ideas?

Is it only the heat or AC also? What about when you open the hood do you smell gas?

The air intake for the heater is on the pass side up by the front windsheild, better ck it out so something doesnt catch on fire

I have been told that maybe it is an underhood fuel leak or more likely a leak in the evaporative emissions system that vents fuel tank

If something in the vent sys was bad a ck engine light would be on

really get this checked out, dont want to see a fire

a fuel rail or an injector seal may be the problem

Yeah my check engine light is on and has been on for a long time before this smell appeared. Why does it only smell like gas when heat is on and I am idling?

Thanks for the advice I will have to get it checked out soon!

Because the heater vent for outside air is just on top of the engine in the firewall, and you also said it smelled like gas when you got out of the car.
Please dont drive the car
