1998 Chevy Cavalier High Pitched Noise in Engine area.

Just noticed this today, Started the car in cold temperature (25F) and there was a high pitched noise coming from the engine as soon as the car started up. The noise continued as the car was in motion and seemed to dissipate when the vehicle reached normal temperature range. You can still hear the noise when you are traveling at slow speed (5-10MPH). Also you can hear it slighty when you accelerate but it doesn't happen all the time. Just curious if it could be a belt or what.

Yes it is possible a belt here are a few other suggestions tolook for possibly a bearing or look at the exhaust manifold and joints see if there is any broken or loose bolts this can cause a high pitch whistle and disappear as it gets warmer or higher/lower rpms
