I have a 1998 Cavalier Z24 Convertible. The engine runs very poor like it is misfiring. The check-engine-light is on along with the "ETS Off" light. I have tried several diagnostic scanners and cannot get the codes to display or anything at all to display, the scanners act like they aren't even hooked up. Are there any ways to manually pull the codes? If not, any suggestions as to what to start replacing other than the spark plugs (already replaced).

You need a scanner to retrieve OBDII codes. The diagnostic port is fused, so check fuses and make sure the pins on diagnostic port connector are not bent.

Get the diagnostic port fixed first, you can waste a lot of money throwing parts at an unknown problem.
