My ABS brakes are not working properly. They sound sort of like a coffee grinder when applying the brake then lock up. Have a full brake pedal. Have not had any recent brake repair completed. The ABS light is not coming on nor does the system set any type of codes in a scanner. Do you have any suggestions?

First inspect the entire brake system, take off calipers and drums, unspect slide pins on calipers for proper operation and pads for abnormal wear, the drums/shoes for grooving or missing hardware. Inspect rear wheel cylinders for leaks, and general condition of fluid. If dark, I would flush the entire brake system and put in fresh fluid.
