1996 Chevy Cavalier headlights

My headlights sometimes dont work at all and when they do I flick them then they turn off. My right is dimmer than my left but not always, I tried a used swith and both were bright. Until I hit the dimmer switch then they were acting like they were on the original switch

Hi:
It does sound like a bad switch. It's possible that you got another bad one if it was used. When your lights are on, are you able to go from high to low beam? When you move the high beam switch, is there any change?

The dim light sounds like there may be a ground problem. Was the replacement switch mounted in the dash?
