1996 Chevy Cavalier engine swap

I've been told that 96 2.4L is different than a 97 2.4L
and if so what is the difference and can it be put in with minimal modifications

I would contact a junk yard and ask if the two years are interchangeable. They have a lot of information on engines that can be used in different years.

Also call an engine rebuilder such as Jasper and ask the tech line for interchangibility between years.

If they are and have the same engine code (T) then you will most likely have to use manifolds and some wiring from '96 engine.
