1987 Chevy Caprice Driving

I have a 1987 chevy caprice and when I push the gas pedal to the floor it stalls and usually cuts off but if I tap the gas and then take off it runs fine

Hi:
It sounds like the accelerator pump is bad. Open the carb, look down in it, and pump the throttle quickly open (with engine off). You should see a spray of gas shoot into the venturi. Let me know what you find.
