2011 Chevy Camaro Heater Core

I recently purchased a 2011 Camaro (brand new) from a certified GM dealer. The car overheated. I am being told by the delaer that the heating core was defective and leaked under the dashboard causing the car to overheat. I am concerned that the vehicle has sustained some engine damage as result of overheating.
Of course the dealer is attemting to convince me that everything will be fine.
I am very doubtful. How difficult is it to repair a heating core.
Should I be concerned about damage that has been done by the vehicle overheating?

An overheat can cause a lot of problems
dealer should be able to check if any damages was done
replacing the heater core should be 1st on the list
and it should be documented that it was a defect
The thing is that you should be under warranty as its is a new car and if any damage was done by the over heat it should show up in the next few month
other options talk them into new car you bought a brand new car to be trouble free and not to be in the shop every other day if its a lemon let them have it back
