1999 Chevy Camaro Service Engine Light

About 5 months ago my Service Engine Soon light came on about 2 days later it went off so I didnt think anything about it! A couple of weeks later it came on again and then my camaro started running real bad I was having trouble accelerating and starting, so I took it to my mechanic he cranked it and said sounds like your spark plugs he popped the hood and took one look at my wires they were arcing (dont know if I spelled it right) He told me I would need to replace the wires, plugs, and fuel filter, he replaced them my car ran fine for about 2 weeks and the light came on again it has been on ever since nothing is happening my fuel and mileage are doing ok. What should I do to get it turned off because my car needs to be inspected and here in Texas they wont inspect it unless that light is off

Hi there,

You will have to get a scan done to check what the set fault code is, the light is an indication that the ECU has logged and stored in the memory a fault, this fault will have to be identified and repaired. If you can post the fault code we can identify the problem for you.
