I'm considering buying a 1997 Camaro with 183,000 miles for a very cheap price, the owner says it dropped oil pressure and he shut it off. How hard is it to replace the oil pump assembly on these?

It is not hard to do, you must disconnect motor mounts and raise the engine slightly to get oil pan off. Then there are 2 bolts holding the pump up and 1 bolt holding filter assembly, it may just slide off the pump then. If not wiggle the filter a little until it does. Personally I would inquire about crank bearings, from personal experience they go hand in hand and usually it is the bearings and not the pump. Good luck and if the price is right you may want to have the bottom end rebuilt, these are remarkable performance vehicles.
