My temp gauge wont work. I baught a new thermostat but see that its going to be a bear to replace it. Could it be the temp sensor and not the thermostat. I recently blew the water pump. After replacing it I had BAD white smoke from the tailpipe. I could smell the burning coolent and oil so I replaced the head gasket. Smoke is good but temp gauge does not work. Please help. Ive spent enough money on this thing already.

Hello
Thanks for the donation.

If the vehicle is not overheating then the thermostat should be working properly. I would suspect a faulty temp. Sensor that is causing the gauge to not work. First check fuses. Next check all of the wiring around the water pumpto ensure that you didn't accidentally knock any wires loose while replacing pump.

Hope this helps.
