1994 Chevy Camaro knocking noise

I have a 1994 chevy camaro, engine starts knocking after car warms up, check engine light comes on sometimes, I changed the oil and knocking became a little quieter but didn't stop; it's pretty noticeable but doesn't seem to get louder with acceleration. What could be the problem?

Loose main bolt or a lifter.

Line the mains up as we say around the shop. Rev the eng to about 1500 just hold it there listen if it is bottom crank. Noise will be steady sounds like a bunch of marbles in a can. Put vehicle in drive see if noise changes if yes wrist pin or crscked piston. If nothing changes noise and is steady most likely lifter. Good luck billymac
