1989 Chevy Camaro how to cahange a fuel pump?

I dont want to pay crazy prices to change my pump. I want to do it myself but the manuals say that I remove a bunch of things in the process. Can I get away with just loosening the parts then removing the Tank. A friend says I can but can I get confirmation please?

You can try but things has to be removed so you can be able to get the tank down and remove the pump
