Engine Mechanical problem
1986 Chevy Camaro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

OK my car ran fine and then all of the sudden last week it wouldn't start. At first the car would fire but wouldn't start then I got it to start once for about 10 seconds but it ran terrible and died.
Now the car will fire every once and a while but most of the time just turns over.
I can hear fuel pump come on when the key is in the on position. I sprayed some starter fluid into the throttle body but it still didn't start so I don't think it is a fuel issue.
I replaced the ignition coil and the computer neither of which made any difference.
I took the ignition module to the parts store and had it tested and they said it was good. I pulled a spark plug and checked for spark and it was somewhat faint I think that might just be because the battery is getting low. When I pulled the distributor cap I noticed some corrosion on the distributor but the guy at the auto parts store said that was normal. I am at a loss please help me if you can. (I am at the dorms at my college right now so my tools are limited.)

I guess you fuel injection rather than having a carb? Do you have B+ and ground at the injector/s with the engine cranking?

Can you check for codes at the data link connector?

It is fuel injection but I don't have any electrical testers as I am at college and it is in the parking lot here at the dorms. I basically just have a good set of wrenches, sockets, and ratchets.

If your data link connector looks like the above picture, all you need is a jumper wire between the A & B terminals, turn the key to the on position, no crank, just till the dash lites come on. The cel starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes.

That is really cool and thank you for your help but I just went ahead and had it towed to a mechanic because I was out of ideas and didn't have all the tools I needed anyway.
