I recently bought this car from a friend for $2,000. It sat in a garage for 2 years so I knew it would need some work. This is a new engine, not the original. I've already paid over $300 to fix the transmission and $300 for gauges, carburator and fuel line. I've been told that it has a blown head gasket (how that happened, I don't know), and needs a new radiator. Repair estimates are an additional $1,125. There are some minor interior issues to deal with also. And some minor body work. Is it worth fixing?

I just looked at auto trader. Com and found a few 1979 camaros ranging from 1500 to 33,000. With what you say the expenses are it will cost you about $3725 by the time you are done. Camaros are good cars but when left unattended they sometimes need repairs. The $3725 total lay out is not bad, but it is up to you to figure what the car means to you. If it was me I would evaluate what the car is actually worth. Look at the body and engine. For replacement parts look at yearone. Com for replacement parts. Do a compression check to see if it is a head gasket. Good luck with whatever you decide.
