Engine Performance problem
1967 Chevy Camaro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive

So I just picked up a 67 camaro and its awesome for the most part. Once its started its usually fine but starting it on a hot engine is tough and I usually have to bump start it by takin a screw driver and puttin it on the starter itself to kind of short it out. Thats not too much of an issue bc ive been told if I put a high torque starter on it that will probably fix it. But the biggest issue is that it will die randomly on me. Its made for racing not cruising so when I drive thru town at slow speeds the engine starts to cut out randomly. Sometimes I can keep it goin by giving it gas but most of the time it just cuts out and I have to bump start it after that. Can you guys help me out? What is the issue? Here are the specs: 350 engine. Holly 750 carb, modified so that the secondary's open at 3000rpm bc of the altitude. Edelbrock Victor Jr manifold (Single open plenum) Comp Cams cam and roller rockers, I don't have the spec sheet on the cam but its ~.510 lift and.~300 degrees duration Heads are the corvette "fuelies" and have been ported and modified for the larger valve springs that match the cam with screw in studs. Lifters are hydrolic. Block is a 4 bolt main 350, bored.030 over Pistons are Hybereutectic alloy, not forged The tranny is a Turbo 400 rebuilt for high performance, the torque converter has about 3000 rpm stall speed (10" diameter). The rear end is a 12 bolt posi with 4.56 gear ratio.

Optional Information:
Year: Pre-1983
Year (other): 1967
Make: Chevrolet
Model: Camaro
Engine: 350

Already Tried:
I give it gas when it starts to stall. That sometimes helps but not always.

The engine specs are fine, but what compression is this running? If you are at 11.5/1 that could be the problem starting ut I kind of think not. Wher eis battery located? In the trunk and the ground cable is connected to the body back there? In a best case scenario you should run the negative cable close to the starter or engine block as well as the body. If you have a MSD iginiton see if they have a manual online on how to check their system, because no system is foolproof. That may be your real problem. Actually we need to know about y our ignition systme more than anything else next time you have aproblem like this. Also check your fuel pressure and flow.
