2001 Chevy Blazer headlight operation

When switching from low beam to high beam does the low beam go out, and only the high beam come on or both the high and low suppose to be on.

YES WHEN YOU TURN ON YOUR BRIGHTS YOUR DIMS GO OUT AND BRIGHTS OFF DIMS GO ON
