I have a Chevy 1999 blazer and my reservoir tank is empty and maybe a possible coolant leak. I knowist I was leaking one day fluid and forgot to check on it until a a couple days later it caught my eye of a giant leak under my car. This was weird cause I would check it every day since that first day and I saw nothing. Once a week or so I would see a leak, but it did not look like it was from my car so I though nothing of it.

This all started happening after I got my oil change done so I thought that maybe they added too much and it was overflow to the reservoir. So I added more when I seen the tank was empty just to the line as show. Prior to this I checked the radiator cap and the level in there was full. I also had the engine running prior to adding more to the tank, but it was off when I was. I did not drive it at all then. I don't know too how many days the reservoir tank was empty as well too while driving on it during this period.

The next morning the tank was empty again. So added more to it to the line. I went to work and saw no leak. When I came home there was still no leak. Then next morning there was a small circle. When I got to work it and turned off the engine and I got out it was a steady dripping. When I came out to the car the tank had a little bit left in the bottom of it. I drove home and nothing. In the morning a small 2-3 inch circle under the car. I added the rest in the tank to fill it up and the the same thing at work happened as the previous day (a big puddle).

The engine is not overheating at all either! It is coolant obviously. I did finally see where the dripping is coming from on the days the car was dripping the major puddle at work. I could not tell the rest of the time ( at least I think) It is coming from the what looks like possibly between the water pump and the engine. Also there is brownish red residue in the reservoir tank interior walls as to I know I have to get a flush still done like I did last year in the summer.

I am really confused as to what to do and I am tight on cash and was just going to get rid of it for a new car with no down payment, but I am tight on cash so I would prefer if cheap to do the fix so I can drive it with no bills. I was told to try this stop leak stuff and I was told to not add coolant in the reservoir tank while running (just like the radiator tank). I really need your help and I can't afford to have it looked at either.

Please help me as it is driving me crazy. Was it just overfill. Should I add more coolant since the tank is empty now. It hasn't been leaking now the 2 days, (BUT LIKE I SAID THE TANK IS EMPTY NOW). THAT AND I WANT TO GET RID OF IT SO IF IT IS NOT LEAKING LIKE LAST NIGHT THE COMPANY WILL GIVE ME MORE FOR IT AS THEY MADE THE OFFER.

PLEASE HELP ME! I would prefer to keep the Blazer is an easy fix.

Sounds like a leaking intake gasket OR bad water pump. Neither one is really an easy or cheap fix.

Check the oil and see if it looks like oil or if it looks like a milkshake. If it looks clean you may be OK for now. The water pump has a weep hole that you can check with a mirror. If the seals have failed it is only a matter of time until the pump fails.
