1998 Chevy Blazer service engine light

1998 Chevy Blazer Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I have noticed the past 2 times after using cruise control that the service engine light comes on after the car is shut down then restarted. First time the service engine light stayed on for a couple of weeks then went out.
Is there some relationship between service engine light & cruise control? What needs to be done?

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
