Just received a call from the wife and she said that the front axel broke and the car is sitting at a 45deg angle. Sounds to me like a broken ball joint but does anyone have another suggestion. I cannot see the situation, if it is a ball joint I know I can handle that at home but if it is something else that I am not thinking of I'd hate to have the vehicle towed twice if you know what I mean. Any hints I'd greatly appreciate. Thanks

Call and ask her if the lower control arm is sitting on the ground, inside the tire, if so it would be a ball joint, If the top of the tire kicked in, then the upper probably let go. You have CV axles from the diff, so I doubt they are causing the truck to list! If the truck was moving when the joint let go, you may need to replace the control arm too.
