I have a 97 blazer thats been acting up. Problem can be intermitent it will not start on occasion until I pour fuel down the throat on the vortec. About 1 oz or so it fires right up and will work fine. I am about to replace the fuel filter but havent found it on drivers side rail yet

I'd use a gage and check fuel pressure. Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a fuel pressure gage. Check the pressure key on engine off. Won't hurt anything to change the filter, make sure there is no pressure on the fuel system before taking any lines loose.
