1996 Chevy Blazer separation of the transmission and engine

I need to know the trick to separating the torque converter from the flywheel without removing the transmission fully?Do I really have to remove the oil pan to do this? If so then how do I connect the engine to the transmission without the oilpan on the engine?

Hi there,

You can't remove the torque converter with out fully removing the transmission, this is just not possible.

So u r telling me that there is no way to pull the engine without the transmission connected?

You can remove the engine and leave the transmission in place the torque converter will stay In the transmission, it isbolted to the engine at the drive plate but is fitted into a set of splines & oil pump drive in the front of the transmission, you can also remove the transmission with the converter as well, the converter will always stay fixed into the transmission, but the connection between the engine & converter must be undone.
