Electrical problem
1996 Chevy Blazer V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I was putting something in back of the blazer and I leaned over the hatch and heard a click. I closed the hatch and now it won't open. I also tried to use the emergency release and that wouldn't open it either. I can hear the electric sound that it's trying to unlock but it won't open.

Had the same problem a year ago on my 97. This is the actuator that has gone bad. It is usually the plastic that has broken down. It is a pain to unlock. You need to get into the back of the truck and pull back the rear panel gently to see it. Their is also an access area underneath the handle. Pull the carpet back gently to get to the actuator. Their is a small hole that you must stick something in like a small screwdriver and "play" with it until it releases. Once it is released, dont let it close. Then take the back hatch panel off and you will see the actuactor. It is almost gold and looks like a box. The part is pretty cheap and easy to install. The hardest part is releasing the window. The rest goes easy. I would suggest someone helping you to be on the outside to pull up on the glass when it does release.
