My fiance was driving to work today, and she said that the oil pressure went all the way down, and now the car can't drive. Her step-dad said that it could be the oil pump, but not sure. What else can cause the oil pressure to disappear.

Hello, what do you mean it won't drive, is the engine froze-up? Can you turn the crank by hand?

My girl just told me that actually the car still has oil, but she hears a knocking noise when turning the car on. The car will crank up tho. She doesn't know if it is from the motor or not.

Hi, I wish I had better info, but, I don't. Need to find where the noise is coming from. If it's internal engine, I'd have to take it apart. On some makes with a tapping noise, I have pulled the oil pan, looked for metal in the pan. Pull the valve covers, see if you can find anything.

My hearing is no good, with noises, I have to hunt and peck, see if I can find it.

I will do that next, but one other thing is. She says that when the oil pressure dropped. The check gauge light came on, and is still on.

Hi, that may be part of the original problem. If think there are any codes, you would need an obd11 code reader.
