My SUV drinks a lot of gas. What can I do or have done to receive more gas mileage?

At 230000 miles im sure it is in need of a tune up. This to do would be to have the plugs and wires changed, rotor and module in the distributor, air intake filter. These are good things to take car of anyway since the car is getting older. May want to have timing checked as well Also make sure you drive it in overdrive, and reduce A C usuage.
