Since I got the vehicle it had low oil pressure while idling if u kicked it up the pressure would go up other than that no problems ran strong an great. Let a friend use it one night an instead of hitting the lights hit 4w low an drove it for a while. Now its squealing an knockin but will turn over an run im wondering can I put a new oil pump in an some of that oil treatment goop just to get it to run a little smoother only looking to get a few months out of it love the truck to its a shame got a great deal on it. What do you think should I do the pump and if I do do I just drop the pan is it kind of right there? Im 23 I know some things clearly not all but ill have help from a father and uncle that do any advice greatly appreciated

Sorry to say it but if it's knocking a new oil pump isn't going to make any difference. Also it is almost impossible to drop the pan off the engine on a 94 with it installed.

If the body is in good shape and you like the truck I would say you have three options. Rebuild your current engine, install a used engine, or install a GM crate engine. Used engines can be a crap shoot. You're never really sure how the owner treated the engine. Rebuilding is a nice thing as you know whet you have when your done, and if you do it correctly the engine will last a long time. The advantage of the crate engine is that it has a warranty.
