I am thinking about buying a 1980 chevy blazer for $550. It's in pretty rough shape but I like the idea of fixing it up. The owner says that it needs some new plugs and wires in the engine and that the u-joint should be replaced. The rest of the truck is rough from wear and tear but I like it. Also my father thinks that both bumpers and running boards are new. Which he thinks could indicate a wreck although the owner claims it's never been wrecked before. Is this a good idea or am I just going to regret buying the truck?

Hello,

Honestly just because it has new bumpers and running boards doesn't mean it's been wrecked. If you are that interrested you can get a carfax report, of course you'll have to pay for the detailed report.

But, take a look under it does the frame look damaged?

Stand back from the front and the rear of the vehicle does it appear to lean to one side or the other? If it does then what to look for is it leaning on opposite sides. Example: does it lean to the right looking from the front and lean to the left from the rear? If so there is a good chance it has been wrecked and the frame is bent.

Now if all looks good to you then go for it.

Hope this helped.
