Air Conditioning problem
2005 Chevy Astro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Brought my car to the dealer in Oct. They told me I needed a new compresser. (Bearing was squeeking but air worked fine. Covered under ext waranty) They told me one of the air lines was rubbing against something and that I should replace but didn't need to immidiately. No one was available to show me the problem when I picked up the car.
Didn't use the car much or the air over the winter months and discovered in March the air doesn't work.
Now they tell me there's a hole in the line.

1. Have you ever heard of the air lines on the Asto's getting holes in the lines because of rubbing? Car has 46k miles.
2. Can I repair the line at the break rather than spend $650

Yes it is possible for the line to get a hole in it if it is rubbing on something, I don't know why the dealer didn't reposition the line to prevent further damage, Once an A/C line has a hole in it it has to be replaced, the pressures are to high to make an effective repair, the minute you'd turn the A/C the line would come apart. And you'd be back to square one.
