Reach up behind the instrument panel in the area of the lighter, and slide off the plastic clip that fits down over the "stem on the back of the lighter. This is the positive hook up for the lighter. As you move your hand forward on the lighter you will feel an octagonal nut that hold the lighter assembly to the instrument panel. (Instrument panel acts as a ground for the lighter) You may need to use a pair of needle nosed pliers to start turning the nut, about 1/2 turn should loosen it enough to spin the nut the rest of the way off. The socket itself tapers so the nut should slide down the socket qnd you can finish pushing out the lighter receptacle.
