I have tried to remove the oil pan on my 98 astro 4.3. I have all the bols removed but it will not come off. What all needs to be removed to get the oil pan down?

Thanks
Joe

You are asking a question here without giving a problem or symptom. So I am wondering why you are removing the oil pan. Anyway, if you have all the bolts out, beat on it with a rubber hammer or a block of wook.

I need to remove the timing cover so I can change the timing chain. The cover won't come off with the oil pan in place. I have tried beating it with a rubber mallet with no luck. Does the trans need to be loosened from the block first?
