The van starts easy and runs smooth, but when you take off it will only go 45, tops, when you give it gas it stalls but does not die, it has a new fuel pump, fuel filter and I just replaced the catalytic converter and it is still doing the same thing, please help.

Have you found the problem? I have a 91 and its doing the same thing. I can give it gas and it sounds as though its smothering. If it is in park I can race it up and hold high rpm's but as soon as its in gear it smothers back. Let me know what you have found. I have replaced all sensors and throttle body and done a complete tune up including fuel filter
