1987 Chevy Astro rear door handle is disconnected

Is there a way to get the rear door open without completely wrecking the door? The handle has become disconnected from the rod. It will lock and unlock with the key but won't open.

Ther should be an access panel on the inside that is removable or a panel anyhow. Probably a clip has broken as they are usually plastic. All you need do is get a new clip, they may be available at any auto parts store. Then replace that put eh rod back in and the door should open.
